The initial set up may take time. You may choose to set a couple of hours aside or do it in stages over a few days. It doesn’t matter how but the process is worthwhile. Tip: it may be easier to print this out first.
How to set up Facebook/Twitter/LinkedIn :

Create usernames & passwords for each one. Create online profile for each, one line bio, choose background designs.

Upload photos – select engaging ones to show your personality.

Invite all your contacts to join you on each one Either search for contacts or email friends/colleagues etc.

Place your twitter/facebook username on your email signature.

How to set up RSS Feeds in Twitter
Feeds are pieces of information that will automatically send information to your Twitter status. They can be taken from different sources; News Articles, Blogs, Websites, Emails You choose what type of information that you want by choosing a keyword that that information feeds from. This can be in the title alone, or in the content.
To set up RSS feeds is a 3 stage process.
The process is simple and easy to follow, In the short term the setting up of each account is the time consuming factor, but long term you will be able to communicate the right message to the right audience, and engage new audience all automatically so it is worth it. Lets get started.....................
Stage 1: Setting up Google Alerts
Google alerts will help find the information that you want:

Create a Google alert account.

Create a new alert, insert a “keyword” for the subject you are interested in i.e. “sales training” in the empty box, select “feed” from the drop down menu, then create alert.

Check the alert is providing the right info, click on the keyword as it is now linked, this will take you to the page that has all the latest documents about your keyword.

Are they relevant to you? If not, be more specific with your keyword i.e. “ key techniques on sales training”. Or edit and instead of comprehensive, select blogs.

Choose how often you want to have the alerts updated e.g. as it happens, once a day. When happy, save your changes.

Feed source information/title; You will need to copy the feed source title to get onto the next stage.

To do this, in your Google alerts, click on view feed in the “deliver to” section.

This will bring up a page that may look a little confusing. You are looking for the line that starts: Href ”http//:www.google.com/alertfeeds01234656789”(alot of different numbers or letters may follow.)

Highlight everything between the quotation marks “”after href.

Copy, Paste & save for later.
Stage 2: Setting up bit.ly

Create account with username/password

Click on “set up twitter account” This then shows your API Login & API key.

Copy, Paste & Save this for later as you will need it for Twitter feed.
Stage 3: Setting up Twitterfeed

Create account (OpenID can also be your google account details) Login>continue sign in (if you are already signed into google this will recognise that)

Click on “Go to my feed (create new feed)> create a new feed Input twitter username & password

Paste your feed URL from Google alerts> test if you want to.

Update “frequency” i.e every hour to how often you want the feed to appear on Twitter Update “post”i.e. 1 or 2, to how many you want appearing.

Include “title only” works best as you are limited to characters on your twitter status.

Keep the tick in the “include link” box.

Select “bit.ly” on drop down menu for shorten link. Input API Login & API Key that you previously copy, paste & save.

Option to prefix, the choice is yours.

Leave a tick in the “active” box.

Its takes a while to kick in, so revisit in a couple of hours.

Check feed is active

Check your Twitter page for the feed

Measure your link performance on bit.ly by clicking “info”.

Check your Twitter/Facebook/Linkedin accounts regularly to see what people are talking about, response to direct messages, invite more people and generally to see what is going on.

Facebook & LinkedIn will automatically select people that you should invite. You can also set up events, invitations, discussions in each of these that will take you to another level of engagement.
